Current Projects

The modified TriviaMaster is in its infancy. Because of this, many (many) projects are currently being worked on or will soon be worked on by channel staff:

1. The KAOS question bank is undergoing a complete overhaul. We are currently trying to develop more user-friendly, fun, and more widely-"accessible" to our international userbase. Thank you to frantichope, Corgi, and all users who are submitting their theme ideas and question/answer sets! IN PROGRESS!

2. The Jeopardy! question bank is undergoing maintenance to remove factual errors, provide date context where it matters, remove unnecessary parentheticals, etc. Eventually, we will also be addressing several user-submitted problems with the Jeopardy question bank. SLOWLY IN PROGRESS!

3. We are looking to expand our "general" question bank (the one we use most regularly) with non-Jeopardy! questions. Some additions will also be added to their own, more exclusive question bank (such as questions from University Challenge, movie-themed questions, and word scrambles). SLOWLY IN PROGRESS!

4. We are looking to begin work on a new command that will allow question banks to be switched out on demand (and the mechanism by which TriviaMaster might do this). IN PROGRESS!

5. We are looking into developing a new type of bonus that features quiz bowl questions that will be offered clue-by-clue (with each clue being worth a point value associated with its difficulty, and each new clue worth fewer points than the previous).

6. We are investigating the possibility of awarding PTP Bonus Points for correct answers during gameplay.

7. MurphysLaw is brainstorming a celebration of our 2nd birthday, to be held in September (of 2025).

8. We are developing a command to recall the last hint. This will be especially useful for KAOS when many people are guessing. The idea is that, when using the command, you can recall the previous hint in the event that the previous text disappears from the screen. COMPLETED 6/19/25!

9. We are developing a command (which will, at first, be used by rb14060 and MurphysLaw only) that will allow the two of us to manually add points to a person's trivia score in the event they get screwed out of an answer by bot lag or any other means. COMPLETED 6/19/25!

New Developments:

1. We have developed a command, -resetbot, which will resolve current issues involving the bot stopping while in the midst of a game, if there is some type of question mismatch, or whatever happens. At first, until we get the bugs worked out and we are satisfied in making it available to all of the administrators (this feature will not be able to be used by operators or half-ops), this feature can only be used by rb14060 and MurphysLaw.

2. Many new KAOS clean-up efforts have already been (primarily) completed. Users will not be able to notice any changes until such time that we are satisfied we have done enough work to make a "push to main", otherwise a "push" to the bot's question bank in use.

Be advised that these things will take time. We don't get paid to do this. As such, our lives come first. When we are able, we collaborate to provide you the best possible #Trivia experience. Please also be advised that smaller edits to the question bank will not be made available automatically, as it makes more sense (at least on the administration side) for smaller edits to be grouped for larger commits.
