Rules:
Since the inception of #Trivia, there have only been three rules:
Respect the channel administration. You don't have to like every member of the team, but you do have to respect them. Joking around, of course, is fine, but don't be obnoxious. It is very, very hard to piss MurphysLaw off, although it is possible. Disrespect is the easiest way to do this (as some have witnessed, lol).
Receiving a disciplinary action for breaking Rule 1 requires that:
The offense occurred within the channel -OR-
The offense occurred in a private message, but the offensive message reflects (or is a result of) events or exchanges that occurred within the channel -OR-
The offense occurred on a forum post or any other medium associated with the channel, and the offensive message reflects (or is a result of) events or exchanges within the channel; OR is pertaining to the user(s) of the channel, AND an occurrence within or associated with the channel
No fucking cheating. No Googling, no asking AI, etc. The use of Spell Check is okay.
Receiving a disciplinary action for breaking Rule 2 requires that:
The accusation of an individual's offense is proven to an administrator -OR-
The accusation of an individual's offense is likely to be valid, and such reasoning is afforded to and agreed upon by an administrator -OR-
The offense is generally regarded by the administrators to be a blatant disregard of the rule
Have fun. This is not optional. 😃
Violations of Rule 3 are a matter of interpretation. An offender must do any or all of the following to receive disciplinary action:
Exhibit unsportsmanlike conduct
Be persistently annoying to users within the chatroom (including monotony, flooding, or similar behaviors)
Create an abusive, dark, or uncomfortable environment, i.e.:
Sending messages that contain blatant and intentional discrimination and/or hate
Fighting with another user, causing drama, or generally being an asshole
Persistently whine
Perform an action deemed otherwise inappropriate (for any reason) by an administrator
Violations of the rules are subject to the following:
An offender's first offense may just result in a public or private warning, but if an administrator feels further discipline is warranted, they will utilize the following "3 Strikes" procedure:
An offender's first offense may be subject to a public or private warning and/or a 1-day ban from the channel, an explanation as to why the punishment was initiated, and a formal complaint lodged to the owner
An offender's second offense may be subject to a 10-day ban, an explanation as to why the punishment was initiated (a final warning), and another formal complaint lodged to the owner
An offender's third offense may be subject to a permanent ban from the channel, which will not be lifted unless the owner wills it.
Please note that operators may "kick" a user from the channel for breaking a rule; they, however, cannot ban a user for any offense. More serious violations or attempts to bypass a ban may result in an immediate ban from the channel (and possibly the server) by a server administrator or PTP staff member. Bans will be ran through TriviaMaster in order to avoid a "Hummingbird bypass". Bringing in drive-by bots that spam messages or advertisements will result in an immediate channel and/or server ban.
Commands:
The primary commands are fairly straightforward:
@trivia both starts a trivia game and ends one in progress.
@topday displays the daily scores.
@topever (@topever20, @topever30) displays the top ten (20, 30) score leaders.
@stats "username" displays gameplay statistics for "username" (or, use @mystats for your own stats).
-report begins a problem report, such that
"-report 1234 Answer is spelled incorrectly" reports to the editing team that the answer to question 1234 is spelled incorrectly and that the database needs edited accordingly. This used to be a very tedious process, but thanks to rb14060 (who manages TriviaMaster), changes can be committed very easily and regularly.
"-report K1234 Michelangelo does not fit theme" reports to the editing team that the answer to "Kaos" question 1234 in regards to "Michelangelo" is incorrect and that the Kaos database needs edited accordingly. Edits are mainly the same as with the general question database, but the Kaos questions are stored separately. The "K" in the report must be included or TriviaMaster will link to the wrong question in the report to the editing team.
-idea begins an idea submission. If you have an idea for a Kaos question, an idea of how we might improve gameplay, or an idea for a new trivia game set, feel free to let us know!
-recall displays the last hint given by the bot, especially helpful for KAOS questions with large amounts of guessing
There are additional commands that anyone can use, relating to the bot's ability to change out question sets:
-qset list displays the short name of all available question sets.
-qset current displays the currently active question set in the bot.
-qset info "name" displays the description and count of questions for the specified set. Be patient as this command may take a few seconds to count the total number of questions, especially on larger sets like the Jeopardy! set.
-qset detailed "name" displays the point value ranges, inter-question and hint timing, and the frequency of KAOS and bonus questions for the specified set.
Be advised that these commands are under heavy development by the #Trivia team. As such, at any time they may produce incorrect information or be completely unavailable. Additionally, there are currently no other question sets readily available for use. Any additional sets listed are for staging and testing/development purposes only. We are looking forward to making these commands and expanded sets available soon.
